Low impact housing. High performance building

A house in between

Located in Valencia´s metropolitan area, in a new urban extensión by the northern farmlands of the city, this house aims to provide peace and intimacy for it´s owners.

The building is based in the Valencian traditional housing scheme where the ground floor harbors all the common uses and the first floor layout guarantees the privacy of each family member rutines.

The ecologic, bio-climatic and passive strategy is based on 4 components: an airtight and insulated envelope, the green roof providing thermal regulation in the heating and cooling seasons as well as reducing the heat island effect. Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery system for the heating seasons combined with natural ventilation on cooling seasons through the south and northern façade openings and the skylight. The heating and domestic hot water is provided by a heat pump controlled through a domotic system.

The construction has been conceived to reduce the building impact in the environment, reducing waste and water consumption, while keeping the costs in line. The whole façade is shaped by concrete hollow core prefab slabs. Each floor concrete slab incorporate void formers to reduce the use of material without compromissing the structural integrity. The main structure is steel based and all the joints are bolted to guarantee it´s unassembly when necessary.
