Recovering the Mumbai bay

Masterplan at Mumbai´s slum area

The proposal aims to connect the Worli Koliwada peninsule with the city of Mumbai through acting in different areas, re-qualifying the existing and traditional slum as a rooted 21st century neighbourhood.
Therefore, the project is shaped by the interaction of new infrastructures, a consolidated slum and the citygrowth in terms of an ecologic, sustainable and affordable development.

Different areas have been selected all over the peninsule to satisfy people´s basic needs -schools, clinic, council administration, fishermen market..-. Others have been overhauled to provide a better service according to new demands -roads, parking, retail, sport areas…-

If both borders (East and West) have been designed to implement the current neightborhood and knit it with the project site, this one fosters to provide a sense of a new and cosmopolite city rooted to Koliwada.
